Behind the Scenes…
My Holiday Season…. For the past 15 years
Hello everyone!
The Holidays are FAST approaching, and I wanted to show you what I have been up to aside from Art Retreating in Italy, zooms with friends and morning Lives on YouTube weekly.
This year I really didn’t advertise my Holiday Family portraits because I had a few repeat clients and friends message me before even thinking of releasing some availability to complete commissions.
I have been creating these Family Xmas / Holidays Cards since my girls were 3 and 5 years old… so for 17 years.
The process can be quite simple OR become very complexed as you’ll see with some of the designs.
🌟I ask the client -
How many people and pets?
What’s your vessel of choice?
Do you want to add any extras?
I have a base price of $265 US for 4 people on a vessel, on a 9×12 piece of paper… less people same price… more people , the price goes up. (You get the original painting plus a print ready file so you can make and print cards )
Once they have decided, I ask for some recent photos of their family. I do a rough quick sketch in pencil, and ask them if they want any additions… then I start.
First sketching it all out in pencil until I like how it looks, then using a pen I fine line it in permanent black (or brown) ink.
Finally I watercolour it. I love my Winsor & Newton.
I will create a reel on my Instagram soon with some process videos… Substack was acting up… so you’ll see photos of the finished pieces here.

🌟I have time for 3 more spots available for Illustrations for this Holiday season… so if you’re interested, message me and we can get the ball rolling.
You can email me at :blueshineart@gmail.com if you prefer.
🌟 A reminder we have a Festive Paint & Draw session on Sat 22- 3pm est

Char

These are so sweet! I love the one with all of the animals and people around the tree!
Char, these are so expressive and charming! I don’t send cards, but I would be tempted to have one done in order to frame it. However, right now I don’t have the bandwidth to pull it together nor do I even have the wall space. I’m hoping I get to join you tomorrow with my grandchildren or at least with Marley. ❤️
